What is the National Peanut Festival?
Launched in 1938, the National Peanut Festival is a 10-day festival celebrating the South, and headquartered in peanut-rich Dothan, Alabama. In fact, during the inaugural year, Dr. George Washington Carver served as the guest speaker. The festival has accrued multiple milestones and memories along its tenure—and those add on each and every year!
Isn’t there a pageant somehow involved?
Yes, there are two pageants that happen almost a month before the actual festival: the Miss National Peanut Festival and Little Miss National Peanut Festival. These beautiful ladies and girls are selected from counties in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia that produce peanuts. Whoever is crowned becomes an ambassador for the festival and the peanut industry. So, for this year, Miss National Peanut Festival 2019 and Little Miss National Peanut Festival 2019 will be crowned ambassadors, respectively.
What are some of the events?

A variety of entertainment options will dot the festival, including chainsaw art, hog racing, magic shows, agricultural education, a petting zoo, and a demolition derby.
